Black Canvas is Matt’s second book. His first book is The Queer Limit of Black Memory: Black Lesbian Literature and Irresolution. Matt is Associate Professor in the Department of Feminist Studies and affiliate faculty in Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has also co-edited special issues of Feminist Studies (2011) “Race and Transgender Studies” and Transgender Studies Quarterly (2017) “The Issue of Blackness.” And published numerous articles in TSQ, GLQ, Black Camera, Sexuality Research and Social Policy and The Journal of Women’s History. Matt’s fiction and poetry has appeared in Pharos, Sinister and Feminist Studies. He is a member of the Black Sexual Economies Collective where he co-edited Black Sexual Economies: Race and Sex in a Culture of Capital. |
